Khaz Varrak
Khaz Varrak ('Kingdom of the Dwarven Ancestors' in Dwarvish) is a dwarven kingdom which has endured for millenia. Resilient as the mountains its oldest cities are carved from, its citizens bore witness to titans roaming the lands and helped shepherd the fledgling human race.
Where once stood a powerhouse of technological advancement and military might, recent centuries have seen Khaz Varrak decay from within due to shortages and bureaucratic squabbles, and from without as its territories were overrun by surrounding nations.
Today, the natural barrier of the Thrymnar and Schwarstein mountain ranges and its alliance with the Valo-Nymerian Empire are seemingly all that keep it from collapsing entirely. Khaz Varrak's current king, Gorik the Fair, has the near impossible task of steering the kingdom back to its glory days.
