Verity tags along with Amalia and Mei onto the endeavor, wanting to figure out what has been going on on the Endeavor. We are looking at thehatch leading to the vents into the bridge, Amalia steps forward to open it with ease. Benat takes point in the vent, Castor pulls up the rear, and everyone is on their hands and knees.
 
Benat knocks on the hatch leading into the bridge before pushing it open and coming through. 4 people with snub revolvers pointing at Benat. Benat introduces himself, and weapons are lowered.
"How many are you?"
"7"
guns go back up, "and do they all look like you?"
"I like to think I'm a fair bit handsomer than the rest"
Verity laughs heartily at Benat's joke.
 
Amalia pops out and says, "Hello, I am Captain Amalia of the Deepnight Initiative. We are here to rescue you, please do not resist"
"I'm Reese" one introduces himself
Amalia asks, "Where Captain"
"Captain is indisposed"
"So you are next in command?"
"Yes." Master-At-Arms Riece is in the best looking uniform.
 
Verirty:"Can the rest of us come out?"
Amalia: Yes
Reese: Are you armed?
Verity: No
 
Verity crawls out and stretches her legs. Everyone else slides out behind her. When Mei climbs out, someone gets so scared they shoot at Mei. The bullet just glances off of her.
 
The guy who fired gets subdued to the ground.
 
"Looks like trigger discipline needs to go on the reviews. You are racking up a ton of paperwork I would rather not have to do."
 
At the hubbub a tired hallowed looking guy comes out of a side room. and shuffles over to the poor fool, and prescribes an extra ration of grog, as his nerves are clearly shot. There is some argument about that. The fool is helped up to his feet, then captain starts to slink away.
 
"Captain?"
"Huh who are you?"
"i am Captain Amalia, from the Deepnight Initiative. I am here to rescue you, under Dr. Bong's direct orders."
"How do I know you're not just here to pillage the ship. You're a really well armoured rescue operation"
"If we're so well armed, why would I be interested in your floating wreck.
"How do I really know you're from the Initiative."
"Okay, here's some identification"
 
Captain takes Amalia into his ready room. there's a dirty laundry smell.
 
Z sits down heavily in his chair "Okay, so if you actually are who you say you are, then i should give you a run down of whats happened"
A "That would be nice yes"
Z"After the outbreak of the shamblers and what not, we suffered a misjump and according to the logs it was a deliberate misjump by the astrogator. Their excuse was they "realized what was happening and decided to quarantine the ship" by the time we emerged from the jump, she was ill and had to be put down. I know we misjumped near an old cache from the period of unity, so to stretch our range i discarded fuel shuttles, and after weeks more of our crew got infected despite best efforts of science and medical. this is when factions happened, my engineer betrayed me, led a mutiny against me, as he was trying to evacuate his supporters. as we approached fuel cache, battles broke out between our groups. it started as an argument about normal operations, and became a battle for the ships key functions fought with snub revolvers and wrenches. I am the captain, and I made a promiswe to the crew, and I can't do thar if I have engineering thwarting me at every turn."

"For one they don't respect my authority, there has been a total breakdown in chain of command"
"Yup, that was self evident, what do i not already know"
yadda yadda automated defenses on the cache.
"This does not bode well for the performance review"
 
Captain feels like he can't do anything until he regains control of the ship and puts down the other factions.
 
"So Captain,you have lost control of the situation. We need to find a way to take control of the situation, without killing all of the mutineers. you want the mutineers not to be a problem, what if I take all the mutineers onto my ship, and then they are no longer your problem? Are you willing to cooperate with me?"
 
"Captain Amalia, right?"
 
"Yup."
 
Zenk quizzes Amalia on her ID to ascertain that she really is who she says she is.
 
Zenk sighs deeply, and accepts Amalia as his superior. "I am a Captain of thw Galactic Surveyors Guild, and I have broken my promise. Are you relieving you of command?"
 
"I am not officially relieving you of duty, b ut I am planting my flag."
 
"Alright, Sir. Unless you prefer Ma'am"
 
"Whichever you feel more comfortable with, Captain."
 
"Yes, Ma'am"
 
"I will see it you do not suffer too much.
 
They head back out.

Other crew speaks to the rest, and they speak of deep respect for the Captain in handling the situation as best he could. They thought they were dead when the misjump happened, and yhe Captain knew where the cache was. Real hatred for the infected who shot the cache. Some, including the Riece are fervently loyal to the captain. On the engineers, some think they are just misguided, others feel it as a real deep sense of betrayal.
 
Been struggling to sustain themselves, they are planning a raid on a cache of rations on the ship, they don't know if anyone is guarding it, it may just be a well kept secret. Struggling to reach bulk rations in cargo0 pod. There's a guy trying to make meatloaf out of the scrapings left on everyone's plates.
 
Amalia and Zenk reenter the room. He looks like a scolded child or a kicked puppy.
 
"Alright Bridge crew, this man is still your captain, but I am now your admiral"
 
murmurings.
Riese "I'd like to hear that from my captain if you don't mind!"
 
Zenk agrees, argument gets a bit heated between him and Riesce. "I never expected you to show such weakness like that!"
 
The crew starts to split, some wanting to submit like Miklos, some wanting to continue being problematic like Riece.
 
"We want to get you out alive. You have not been acting effectively. If you split into more factions, it will only get worse."
People are inclined to abide by Amalia's words.
 
Amalia has effectively created a new faction, the I-Want-To-Live Faction, commonly known as the Pro-Life Faction, which includes the Engineer, Bridge, and Starboard Factions, who have all reluctantly agreed that they do after all, Want To Live
 
Verity suggests they should not let people into the ship until they better understand the Infection. Meanwhile Jin radios in and says that some spacewalkers have turned up at the Bessarion and are demanding to be let in.
 
Amalia asks what the early signs of shamblerhood would look like, Exposed, Infected, and Controlled. They experience tugs of wanting to return to planet, making somethings more attractive than others. With a focus on returning to a planet? Over time they start exhibiting irrational behavior, anger. Not doing where they're supposed to do, or doing it poorly. Murmurings of some survivors have supposedly come back from being infected. Somehow.
 
We can hear banging on the door, Shamblers wailing on the door.
 
The spacewalkers have come on behalf of their supervisor Yarla, want to know what we are doing here.
 
"We are here to rescue you, please do not resist"
 
"You do know there is a very dangerous and infectious risk on the ship?"
 
"We still have our suits on"
 
"Alright, good. As much as we want to get out of here, we do not feel comfortable leaving the ship until we have neutralized the entity. "
