Worldbuilding Awards 2026

My Entries

Hearts & Minds

An article touching on intellectual, sociological, spiritual or cultural accomplishments and traditions of a people in your world.
The people of the Sea Elves have survived adversity to rise as a spiritual and cultural pillar of the aquatic world of Nonvyrox. This highlights not only the fractured nature of the culture, but also the achievements that have been made despite this.

Rise of Nations

An article relevant to the history of civilisations and peoples of your world, and their legacies.
The oldest city on the planet, Sovmora is my peek into the joys and follies of a long history. Its legacy runs deep to the core of many parts of the world, and for me is the foundation upon which all civilization was derived.

Wondrous Nature

Your natural world in all its glory — an article describing anything from species to locations, to natural and supernatural events, and bizarre naturally-occurring materials.
I think The Moon Shards demonstrate best the link between nature and magic in the world of Nonvyrox. The ever-moving archipelago is the remnants of a continent that was shattered by a large impact, leading to the downfall of a number of civilizations. Now the islands remain as a testament to the ancient nature of the world and its powerful forces.

Strength & Honor

An article relevant to the interactions of the people of your world across a grand scale — diplomacy, war, trade and collaboration, and the people who drive and engineer them.
An entry from Summer Camp that I knew would become a key part of my world. Labrivas is built from my own fears and wonders about the future and what it means to be an elderly near-immortal with those same concerns. Yet she has turned out to be one of the most powerful generals and diplomats that I have had the pleasure to write.

Pillars of Progress

An article describing a technological or scientific accomplishment, or celebrating creations developed by the people of your world.
This time an entry from World Ember. For me Manomancy was previously my first attempt at differentiating my magic system from the D&D core that Nonvyrox started with. Introducing the idea of a Manomancer was really good for looking at how this was put into practice in the ancient and now modern variants of the setting.

Best Worldbuilding Article

The proudest work of recent times!
In what I consider a strange turn, I've entered my language Runic for Best Article. I usually wouldn't think of such a technical article, but on reflection, it was the article from the past year that I've become most proud of. It gathers my knowledge of conlangs and culture into a single technically driven article, leading to the language that is at the root of all of existence in Nonvyrox.

Artist's Cartography Award

A map drawn by myself!
For my non-article category this year, I have made the final version of my Map of Ossalimar. It has markers to all the major settlements of the continent and is meant to be an in-universe map created by a character I'm working more on. To me this has been hundreds of hours in the making and was the reason I didn't submit to the awards last year, I wanted to give myself time to finish this map and make it as close to perfect as possible. While there's more interactivity to add over the months after the awards, for now it is in a place I am so happy with!
