Ish'ki

"When a dream falls upon a lake, an Ish'ki shall surely wake."
— Old bedtime rhyme
Ish'ki are mystical creatures, with few knowing where they actually come from. Some people have posited that they might be a type of Dragonborn due to their ability to transform into one if they ever manage to achieve a great level of power. Though even this is quite inconsistent. It is widely accepted by colours that they have come in for the Astral Sea, where they are reported to have vast kingdoms in pools of water resting upon floating islands.   Ish'ki have particular control over water. Able in many cases to manipulate it with little difficulty. The presence of salt or any impurity has been witnessed to severely dampens this ability to the point of completely stopping it if too severely polluted.

Basic Information

Growth Rate & Stages

Ish'ki can grow quite big throughout their lifespan, thought as with everything to do with them this can be quite inconsistent.

Ecology and Habitats

Ish'ki are very much at home in freshwater or the lands that surround it. They are fully amphibious creatures almost as comfortable on land as in the water. Ish'ki are severely averse to saltwater and any sort of pollution and require the water they are swimming in to be very pure. Swimming in anything other than clean fresh water will make them very sick, very quickly. In real life Koi are actually quite hardy and even increase the Topididiy of the water they are in, kicking up mud from the river bank. They are still freshwater fish but are able to survive in reasonably dirty water.

The colourful fish serves as inspiration for this species.
