Summer Camp Prep 2026
So here we are, fellow worldbuilders! My first-ever summer camp in World Anvil! Needless to say, I'm a little excited. ~squees to high heaven~ Let's get started!
I pledge on this day, May 30, 2026 to relax and have fun creating worldbuilding content for Tydas while suffering the summer heat and to leave Summer Camp with a Gold badge.
Bitty's Side Note: Found out that my AC unit needs to be replaced, so I will literally be suffering the Texan summer heat after all.
Bitty's Side Side Note: Got a new AC Unit. I'm ready to camp in ice-cold relaxation.
Week 1 Assignment
I'm going to start out with my pledge: I pledge to create 24 different prompts that will flesh out Tydas a lot more this July. Being that I'm on break from school, this is the best time to do it.
Love Within Tydas
Love is a central theme in the world of Tydas, since my main characters, Tarana and King Sol , are bonded mates who slowly fall in love as they journey through Tydaria and the wider world. There are other couples within different lands that will also be shown as the story goes on, but Tara and Sol's love is always at the center.
Sol: There is nowhere you can go, Moonbeam, where I won't be able to feel you within my beating heart.
There is also love of the world itself. The Creators Three loved Earth so much that, when they learned of its imminent destruction, they took ideas and the human spirit with them to create their own treasure of a planet they named Tydas. This dragon's horde of a planet was one they loved dearly, and as such, they protected it by giving it a leader who would take care of it when they couldn't.
The people of Tydas, despite being of different races, have one thing in common: the admiration of the planet that they live on.
Hopscotch Homework
I rolled a d4 for my hopscotch homework, so here are two new articles for Tydas.
My second roll was a d3, so the next in line is to update the meta document.
My third and final roll was a d1, so I'll be adding a little to the homepage
Side Note: I decided to roll more than once. Tydas really needs the work. LOL
Tydas' Meta Document
So, I've already been kind of updating the meta document here and there, but for homework's sake, I decided to work on the focus point and inspiration. I mentioned that my focus was on the series itself and that I might start writing chapters as prose articles until I feel it's ready to be put into manuscripts. As for the inspiration, I mentioned that I used Kagome from Inuyasha as the reincarnation of Kikyo for my two main characters.
Except Sol won't be hopelessly in love with a woman made of dirt like somebody we know. It's Tarana all the way for him.
Tydas' World Homepage
I really didn't do much to this. I'm pretty satisfied with it, so I just added a mature warning since some of my writing can get pretty spicy sometimes. I also just made a few more categories with in the Luminary Bond section of the World Codex.
Prompt For Warm-Up
Write a Settlement that's associated with love.
I have written an article about a settlement known as Valora, located near Thosta in the west.
Week 2 Assignment
Growth Within Tydas
What kinds of things are known for having grown recently in your world?
Tydas itself is a world that is always growing. There is always something to learn that hasn't been discovered, people who become bigger than they were originally, or places specifically known for the growth of nature or knowledge. But if I had to say, my characters have been growing in their development recently. I'm currently writing on the first story, and Sol is slowly but surely accepting the fact that he has to become the ruler of his entire world of Tydas. Tarana is learning to find her own path in life and live it without so much inner fear.
Camp's Area of Focus
For this camp, I'm going to focus on culture across the six lands of Tydas.
Hopscotch Homework
I rolled a d3 - How does your area of focus interact with the rest of the world?
I believe that focusing on culture interacts greatly with Tydas. From what I've been brainstorming so far, the Tydian races have so many different ways of living, from the way they talk to how they dance, down to what they eat. I feel like as I write this, I will be able to open more doors to each place that will open up how Sol and Tara will take in the world around them as they travel.
Here are some examples of culture in the various lands
- Tydaria: Tydarians focus most on all three creators and host festivals for them at different times of the year.
- Drecuria: Drecurians live a Viking-like lifestyle and value strength and perseverance within people and nature.
- Cevoryn: The Cevo have to learn to live on an island surrounded by an ocean that can literally injure them if its water is ingested.
- Mesan: Mesani women who are unmarried wear their hair up and let it down when they are taken. Men are vice versa.
- Thosta: Thostans learn to respect the forest they live in and to see even the littlest blade of grass as a friend.
- Asrail: Asrailians learn how to dance from a young age; dancing is a way to express everything in their lives.
Concepts of Tydas
Here's what I hope to figure out while in camp:
- Courtship customs
- Wedding Customs
- Lifestyle involving family
- More creatures of each land. Some docile and some ferocious.
- Methods of cooking: Tarana will learn to cook a variety of dishes while on the circuit.
- Customs of Asrail- Asrail is sorely lacking in this.
- Rites of Passage - this will be good with the growth theme.
Summer Camp Themes - Four Seasons
Spring - Love (freaking excited for this one since Chronicles of Tydas is a romantasy series I'm planning)
Summer - Growth
