Wolf Wers
Transmission & Vectors
It is transmitted by the bite of the affected when they transform.
Symptoms
The most obvious symptom is that on the night of a full moon the sufferer is forced to take the form of a wolf and creates the risk of them injuring others as they are unable to recognise even their closest friend or their own child in this state.
The less obvious symptoms include exhaustion from the loss of sleep and chronic pain caused by repetitive strain on the joints during transformations.
Treatment
There is no treatment that will prevent the transformations so most choose isolation and confinement during the full moon to keep them from being a danger to others.
The other symptoms can be managed through more conventional treatments which are available in most supermarkets and pharmacies even outside magical towns.
Prognosis
The average for sufferers to live to is about fifty, this is due to the injury they face and the risk of murder from other people who are afraid of them.
Prevention
The Magic Government has tried to control the spread through the isolation of those with this condition and policies such as the Marking.
During the Marking they branded those with this condition and later on their families as well to warn people of the danger these people could be.
Cultural Reception
The general population often fear those with this condition and view them as highly dangerous at all time, as a result many sufferers will group together and live on the fringes of society.
In these groups there is often a hatred of those who fear them so those who decide to live alongside non-effected Humans are often ostracised by their community.
