Similar to the more severe form, Wers, it can be inherited although it is very rare for the inherited form to be the less severe version.

More commonly, people choose to form the connections to acquire this condition. The process is long and complicated and as such often fails, sometimes with disastrous consequences.

Unlike Wers, this less severe version cannot be transmitted through bites or scratches from those who already have the condition.

Causes

This version of the condition is under the control of the individual, most choose to acquire it through the necessary spells and all can choose to take on the symptoms when they want to.

There is debate among experts as to whether the hereditary version of the illness should have the same name, as it is not a wholly chosen condition despite the ability to control when symptoms take effect.

Symptoms

This condition allows people to change their physical form into that of an animal familiar, this can be painful if done too frequently however the speed with which these transformations take place mean that it is nowhere near as painful as the forced transformations caused by Wers.

The animal forms of people with this condition are less aggressive than those with Wers as they are able to keep more of their own mind which means that they retain control.

History

There have been many individuals throughout history who have utilised this power, however the true number can not be known as many people do not disclose this power.

Cultural Reception

People with this condition are either regarded with suspicion, as their animal forms can allow them to be more sneaky, or they are revered for being closer to the faerie magic.
