WAWA 26 Stuff

Follow SJ, will you? It'd be cool.
On top of that, I have a Ko-Fi. Check it.
So, the Awards. I decided to do them, now that it's not mostly a popularity contest.
And so, I have submitted a decent few things. All things considered, I don't high hopes of getting anywhere. Not that my stuff is bad, no, it's fine and I wouldn't have put anything forward if it was bad, but if you take a second to look at the competition, it's not really a contest anymore. But regardless, submitting is free and nothing bad can come of it, so why not.
  Here's the list;

Best World

SJ itself, as a whole. It's my baby and about the only thing I've worked on here in, well, ever.
Stellar Journey

Human space in the 29th century, nothing more, nothing less.

Hard science fiction, to the best of my ability, about the vast space inhabited by the humans of the 29th century.   "The universe cares nothing for us, and so we are free to make our way however we please."

Entirely honestly, even despite my very reasonable and founded reservations, I do genuinely believe SJ can get at least nominated. Will it? Probably not, but it could, if you ask me.
  The supporting articles were the following;
Common ship equipment
Generic article | Feb 24, 2026

An overview of the most common ship equipment, civilian or military

CSE is one of my personal favourite articles, mostly because it is reasonably in-depth, long, and is about spaceships. Very fun to write and figure out, too. Articles like it are a long-time favourite of mine, for good reason.

Ochtotne Prime is one of those foundational articles. While recently rewritten, very thoroughly, the locale itself is one of SJ's first features, and is very important to the stories and the development of the setting.
STUN
Organization | Feb 20, 2026

The dominant power of the core regions, a loose federation of sorts

The STUN is similar to Ochtotne Prime in that it is foundational, in many ways. Not only is it very significant in-universe, it has been a very fun area to develop, and just interesting to figure out, what with all the logistics, by nature of SJ.

Nuclear Fusion
Technology / Science | Feb 20, 2026

Technology allowing fusion reactors

A very recent, and slightly rushed, article. Fusion is still a quintessential SJ article; long, technical, highly in-depth, and slightly too goddamn boring for anyone that isn't already interested. It may skip out a bit on the social impact, but the technology is extensively explored.

Map

It's the map.
Human Space
Human space is a vaguely spherical region, about 320 light-years in average radius, which contains within approximately 700 000 star systems, millions of nations, and 72 trillion people. It is a vast space, filled with all sorts of interesting locales, societies, and phenomena, be those natural or man-made.   The map itself works as follows: When regarded as a 3-dimensional Cartesian (x,y,z)-coordinate system the circle at the base of a line is the (x,y)-position on the galactic plane, while the line denotes the z-axis.

Very fun to make, very cool. Making a 3d map of space into a 2d view has its issues, and certain parts are wonky, messy, and everything like that, but it is still a cool, and very distinct, map, full of stuff to find and read. Bout 80 pins, last I checked.

Best Article

Sapient Synthetics
Species | Feb 21, 2026

The robotic semi-subspecies of humanity that is so prevalent in human space.

I had originally intended for synthetics to go into the tech/science/so on category, but frankly, it came out really well. Solid formatting, plenty of images, thorough exploration of all variety of topics, and cool pictures. So, I instead decided to go all out and put it up for best article. Will I be dissapointed. Yes, likely. But still, it's not an unreasonable hope.

Rise of Nations

Cellean autocratic space
Organization | Feb 18, 2026

An old, now-collapsed empire that dominated the then-outer rim of human space

This is one of those foundational articles again, and one directly vital to all of the stories, honestly. They all tie back to Cellea, in some way or another. The empire itself was also fun to think about, what with all the pre-ftl logistics, monumental legacy and multi-century history.

Strength and Honour

Skejon
Character | May 28, 2026

Quaken's best friend, adept swordsman, and deutaragonist of the main story

Skejon's a bit of an offhanded submission. Is it a good article? Yeah, I'd say so. Is it better than Stringer or Mad? Eh, maybe. It has more flavour to it, and is somewhat more digestible (though also rather long). Is it good enough? Probably not, honestly, but it fit, and is still one I am proud of, so why not.

But yeah, that's about it. We'll see where these go. Somewhere, hopefully. In the meantime, I have other stuff happening. Good luck to everyone else doing this as well. I may have certain opinions about the awards, but it is probably a net positive, and does definitely raise the spirits of the community, which is nice to see.

That's a fantastic map. It makes sense that you're submitting several foundational articles, those are often the ones we work hardest on and feel the most impactful. I'm glad you felt up for submitting some things despite your reservations :D

Big thanks. Yeah, the foundational articles do tend to be a lot more effortful, but at the same time, the articles here are almost all rewritten within the last year. This makes them a pretty good representation of my skill now, and are just better in general.
