The Golden Ball is a sub-formation that falls under the Cacti Tactical Force Units.
The Golden Ball Cacti are sometimes akin to playable video game characters in the world of Base Operatives. They are dispatched when the Base Ops require feet on the ground to aid their remote processes. This could involve anything from rigging a location with bombs to tapping a venue with bugs and cameras, which could happen even before a Base Op technically begins their monitoring duties on a particular situation or event. These Goldens are typically on standby to deploy any mission that will assist a Base Op or that the W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. organization dispatches them on to prepare a Base Op for their job.
In addition to their regular tactical Cacti training, Goldens specialize in technology because they primarily work as the hands and feet of immobile Base Operatives. Sometimes, a Base Op will station themself in a mobile unit such as a utility van or other vehicle that can serve as a temporary base. This is usually only done if physical presence in the area is somehow required for an operation.
Due to the methodical nature of most Golden tasks, there are a few rumors circulating around the agency that Androids have been trained and integrated into the Golden Ball teams. Higher-Ups have not confirmed or denied the presence of robotic agents within the various Cacti groups, but they have responded to some claims, reassuring skeptics that there are, in fact, humans being trained for Cacti duties.

Commander McCox gives newbies the rundown:
You know how I told you I would love to have been a Cacti, but I don't know how well I'd actually do in the position? Well, I think one of the better groups I would fare relatively well in would be the Golden Ball. They look cool and execute well-orchestrated maneuvers, but they don't usually need to engage in combat. Not to say they never do at all, but that's not their main focus. They are like the spies you know: get in and get out, unseen. They are deployed as a team, though, because there's still strength in numbers. Sending in an individual agent with lots of heavy equipment and tasking them to run all over a large campus is not ideal. But if you have a whole pack of those guys, they're practically unstoppable. Sometimes, they can look like some normal construction workers or some kinda maintenance people. Other times, they look like they're employees of the place. It all depends on the place. And the mission. But they look cool regardless. Especially when they're all geared up.
