A Sea In The Sky

Here lies a sea that has taken to the skies on the wings of Primal Air. Above the Realm of Seas blankets of cloud condense into interconnected sheets of Primal Air and Primal Water that never leave the sky truly clear. The region is home to the second greatest population on Marus and the largest physical territory by far. It is the ancestral home of the Balao and the coveted prize of the Aviator's Society aboard their hovering Wingships and flying Dirigibles.

These aerial fog banks are home to generations of Balao and their civilization anchored in the clouds. The landmasses here are almost entirely composed of a dense cloud-like material rather than earth and many of its islands may vanish or move with the wind. Only the islands settled by the Balao maintain any sense of true stability and cohesion. This magical region and its islands existed long before Caydon Rel ascended and its inaccessible nature has only added to its reputation shrouded in myth and legend. It is where Marus' first Sophonts constructed some of its oldest and greatest cities. Do Céulani, the oldest known settlement in the Realm, still serves as a holy site and civic center for sky-bound life. The bustling trade hub is one of several such settlements on the enormous expanse of Colmeia Island that serves as gathering place and neutral ground for all Balao. Until the Aviator's Society was founded, only a handful of sea-bound life had ever managed to make it to the clouds above. Now there is an active race to find anything and everything of value in the Cloudtop Sea; both natural works and Balao artifacts are poached with little care for the consequences or who may be hurt in the process.
