Lillthain

A Capital in the Shadow of the Throne

Lillthain, the capital of Ostrium, is built at the base of the Wildwood Throne and the palace built around it. Built on top of what was once a Nomadic Trading Hub turned ruin, this city is smaller than what most would believe a capital to be. In truth, they kept to the original space that the Trading Hub had once taken up, from the sea to the Throne itself, and not an inch wider than it needed to be.

Nomadic Origins

The ruins of the Nomadic Trading Hub have long since been cleared and relocated into noble housing, but the reminders have not been cleared from the city as a whole. The street layout is the same as it was when it was nothing more but a ruin, with buildings placed carefully inside of the sectors left available for them. Of course, the closer to the Wildwood Throne, the nicer the buildings are, signaling the noble district of the city to anyone who notices.

History Lost

With the removal of the ruins as the city was built, there is very little actual proof of the origins of the city for the common citizen, something that the University of Lillthain finds to be highly discouraging. Historians need to take the word of their forefathers instead of research for themselves whether or not this city was built upon a ruin, or if they were told tall tales to make the Nomads feel welcome. There has been requests to open up dig sites around the edges of the city to find any hidden signs of the ruins, but so far none have been permitted.

Time for the Contest

When the Contest for the Throne comes around, the capitol gets busier than ever, bursting alive with natives and tourists alike. Every Inn is packed with visitors, merchants hawk their wares on the streets over the loud bustle of people, and everyone wants a glimpse of the Representatives. While some deem this time as one of the best for business, others merely wish for their relatively peaceful days to return swiftly.
