Shardslip

Shardslips or simply slips (symbol ♦ or SL), are a currency originating from Auria. Slips are shards of Shardstone with complex engravings on them. Depending on the colour and type of engraving, a single shard is worth more or less slips.

Fraud and countermeasures

In the early days of usage, it was common to only engrave the top and bottom faces of a shard. However, this lead to miscreants "padding" a stack of slips with unengraved shards of the same colour. The engraved shards at the top and bottom would give the illusion that the rest was also engraved. To counter this, modern shards have engravings on the edges as well as the faces. Some people even consider the edge-engravings to be more important than the face engravings, thinking of them as little more than decorative.
