Watch out for the boggles. They especially like to nibble toes.
No Stop on the Bronston Road
Through the Vaspor Mountains, the rocky landbridge that connects the two continents Namda and Erumir, only the Bronston Road can be safely travelled. Along this road, several merchant lodges provide nighttime shelter, for this is a multiple day journey and the number of villages in the mountains extremely scarce due to the mostly hostile terrain. But, off the road, a handful of communities do call the Vaspor Mountains their home.
These communities are neither part of Kritmorc, the country on the Namdan side, nor of Amesval on the Erumiran side. The handful of villages are controlled by themselves, with their own authority and own rules, with their leader settled in Stelhill, the largest of the settlements right at the centre of the mountains, and the only village through which the Bronston Road passes. To pass, travellers need to pay a toll.
From the perspective of a merchant or adventurer, Stelhill is a small, bitter town that provides only fresh water to travellers passing through. They provide no shelter, no food and no safety from Darkness. What travellers don’t know is that the Bronston Road only passes through the very edge of the town, and that among the inhabitants, the place is known as Bogglebath.
Stelhill, or Bogglebath, is located on the banks of a large warm water pool that boggles enjoy to clean the grit and mud from between their fingers and toes. A human settlement has always aided the boggles in this leisure, for boggles are less likely to eat humans when treated with kindness. It was the construction of the Bronston Road that almost destroyed this delicate relationship.
Since the construction of the road, a positive relationship with the boggles has become even more important. To appease the Boggle King, who settled in Bogglebath smelling the increase in human activity, a tithe is asked from travellers passing through. This coin is used for the upkeep of the spa-esque structure that surrounds the warm water pool: the palace of the Boggle King.

These hobgoblin-like creatures have raw grey skin mimicking their rocky environment.
