Alath-Narfazh

The mountains of Natana were much higher than I had even considered. The beautiful view from its peak allows me to see both Althra and Azhana, it really feels like the three are truly the family that my people declare them as. I cannot help but smile at their majesty
— A Skyrunner's journal about the islands.
Alath-Narfazh is a small archipelago of islands that are always found together in The Moon Shards, comprising of the three islands Natana, Althra, and Azhana .

Description

The three islands have beaches of a brillian white sand that transition quickly to dense underbrush and jungles of green and slightly magenta leaves. The trees on the island have veins of magenta that premiate through the bark. Each of the islands have cave systems that are lined with various ore deposits that glitter with a bright shine.
Each of the islands have a high peak, with Althra and Azhana's peaks seemingly split between the two islands. The peak of Natana stands much taller than the others, overlooking the two smaller heights. Each of the peaks are covered with a faint mist that obscures the peaks from vision until they are crested.

History

Much of the history related to Alath-Narfazh has been gathered together by the Drendonic Tribes and Lantern Wanderers who have visited the islands. The creation of the islands is shrouded in mystery, other than they were likely created during The Shatter with the other islands of The Moon Shards.
Some believe that the three islands used to be one larger island that was split into two in the early days of The Shatter and further split into three at some point later in the war. While these are just theories, it is clear that Althra and Azhana were both originally a single island split into two.
The islands were rediscovered and identified as a connected cluster during 394 AR. This led to a conflict between the two factions that inhabited The Moon Shards, the Lantern Wanderers and Drendonic Tribes. Each believed that the islands were within their teritory, with the only resolution being that the two nations could each traverse the islands as neutral territory.

Society

There are clear ruins of a society that existed across the three islands of Alath-Narfazh. This society was at least twice the size of most humanoids and possessed a great connection with both magical runes and natural spirits. As a result, many of the ruins across the islands have become homes for these natural spirits.

A Family Borne

When discovered again by the members of the Drendonic Tribes, the islands were given their modern names, each translating in their dialect to Parent, Son, and Daughter. Referencing the sizes of the islands and their link to each other. Thie idea of a family was agreed between both the Drendonic Tribes and Lantern Wanderers, seeing the island as a sacred home for the previous society of The Moon Shards.

Notable Locatrions

Name Description
Tana-lanosht A large stone doorframe located in the south-east of Azhana, Tana-lanosht is believed to be the remaining frame of a magical gateway. Where this gatewayt would lead to is unclear, as many of the runes that line the frame have yet to be identified. The doorframe stands easily ten feet high, which seems to indicate that the people on these islands were taller than most humanoids.
Meranish Believed to be a small temple, Meranish is a cavernous room near the base of the mountain in Natana that contains several ancient depictions that have been linked to some of the more ancient depictions of many deities. Who this temple is dedicated to is unclear, as sevral deities appear multiple times and the language that the society described them in has been lost to time.
Elan'drash Discovered near the highest peak on Althra, Elan'drash is a natural spring that has several built up ritual stones that line its frame. There are runes that line across the stones, but the design is much smaller than othe ruins on the island. In recent years a group of natural spirits have taken up home within Elan'drash, using it as a home within the islands. Many people have have sought to climb to the peak of the mountains have found that the spirits in Elan'drash have provided them rations and water as they summit the mountain.
Arno'veer A small village that has seemingly fallen to ruin within the brush of Althra. Arno'veer was seemingly created by a set of humanoids that survived along the coast after becoming stranded on the island. The village was built up until it was abandoned sometime before 0 AR. It is unclear the ancestry of the people and why they abandoned the village. Arno'veer has become a rest point for memebrs of the Drendonic Tribes and Lantern Wanderers who visit the small cluster of islands. As such, it has been labelled the Village of Peace by the two sides.
