Orcs

Orcs are among the most feared mortal races in the known world, towering warriors shaped by conquest, violence, and an uncompromising belief in strength above all else. Across the harsh territories of the Kriegrich Plateau and the mountainous regions of Tolhera's Spine, countless Orcish Tribes endure through warfare, raiding, and brutal competition for dominance. To outsiders, orcs are often viewed simply as savage destroyers, yet their societies possess a fierce internal code built upon honour, loyalty, and the absolute authority of strength. Orcs respect power openly and without shame, following leaders capable of securing victory, glory, and survival for the clan as a whole. Where the Goblinoid Tribes spread through treachery, infestation, and fragmentation, the orcs descend like a hammer blow. They wash over their enemies in a green tide that is direct, devastating, and impossible to ignore.

Physically, orcs are massive, broad-shouldered humanoids possessing immense strength, exceptional endurance, and remarkable resilience to injury and hardship. Most stand significantly taller and heavier than humans, with thick musculature, prominent tusks, and skin tones ranging from dark green and grey to ash-brown. Orcs mature quickly compared to many mortal races and are capable of surviving in some of the harshest environments in the world, from frozen mountain passes to barren plateaus and war-ravaged wastelands. Their sheer physical power allows them to dominate most opponents in direct combat, while their endurance enables them to continue fighting long after other armies would collapse. Though often underestimated intellectually by civilised peoples, orcs are also highly industrious when circumstances demand it, maintaining forges, beast pens, slave camps, and fortified settlements capable of supporting prolonged warfare.

Orcish society is built upon the worship of Gruumsh, the One-Eyed, and the belief that might grants the right to rule. Leadership is earned through combat, achievement, and the ability to command loyalty through strength rather than deception. Unlike the goblinoids, orcs rarely rely upon betrayal or cowardly intrigue to gain power, viewing such behaviour as deeply dishonourable. Rivalries between clans are common, but these conflicts are typically direct and ritualised rather than driven by treachery and murder. Orcs fight for glory, territory, loot, and the favour of Gruumsh, seeking honour through conquest and battle rather than survival alone. Their societies also incorporate slaves, conquered peoples, allied monsters, goblinoid auxiliaries, and even Ogres and Giants, all of whom are expected to recognise the dominance of the orcs. This straightforward and uncompromising worldview grants orcish clans tremendous military cohesion, but also creates their greatest weakness, as orcs do not hide, retreat strategically, or rebuild patiently in the shadows. They meet their enemies head-on and continue fighting until reach victory or death.

In earlier ages, the great orc hordes were among the most devastating threats ever faced by The Empire, capable of overwhelming entire provinces beneath waves of conquest and destruction. Over centuries, however, the growth of Imperial military power, infrastructure, and industry gradually forced the orcs back into the Kriegrich Plateau and the harsher reaches of Tolhera's Spine. Unlike the fragmented goblinoid tribes, the orcs were considered too dangerous to tolerate through half-measures, and Imperial campaigns against them were often relentless and absolute in their brutality. Though diminished compared to their former height, the orcs remain a constant threat along the Empire’s borders, probing endlessly for weakness through raids, migrations, and rising warlords seeking glory. Many Imperial strategists fear that should the Empire ever falter significantly, the clans of Gruumsh would unite once more and surge across the continent in a tide of bloodshed reminiscent of the ancient invasions that could shatter civilisation itself.
