Silas Vane is a man drowning in a sea of ink and secrets. As a mid-level bookkeeper for Payton Whitfield, Silas is responsible for reconciling the "unorthodox" expenses of the South Wind’s expansion into the Kobold Hills. He is meticulously organized, chronically anxious, and possesses a moral compass that is currently spinning wildly as he realizes his employer is funding a warband.
Physical Description
Identifying Characteristics
Silas has the pale, slightly sickly complexion of someone who spends eighteen hours a day under candlelight. His fingers are permanently stained black to the second knuckle, a badge of his trade as a bookkeeper. He has a nervous habit of adjusting his spectacles and obsessively straightening his ledgers. If a page is dog-eared, he cannot focus until it is smoothed out.
Silas isn't wealthy but isn't poor either. He wears a decent but gently frayed doublet in classic South Wind navy blue. A heavy leather satchel is practically chained to his wrist; it contains the "red ledgers."

Silas is a believer in the logic of numbers. He understands that while people lie, math does not. He is currently terrified because the math in Midglen is no longer adding up.
He is highly risk averse and is terrified of Payton Whitfield, his supervisor at the South Wind Trading Company in Midglen, and is even more afraid of the person known as the "White Knight." He follows orders because he doesn't want to end up face-down in the Celestial Creek.
