Doormeister
Doormeister
A doormeister is a role in Rouwa Clans dedicated to defending a Rouwa from entry or exit by strangers.
History
The Doormeisters were the first in the history of Mihil to develop and master specialized tools for the purpose of combat. In the first days of the Rouwa, the Wazzari knew nothing of war, and the Heimfolk were slow to take advantage of the Ironkumin, yet the Rouwa Clans all possessed an abundance of things they would like to prevent their neighbors from snatching. But no ordinary wall can keep a miner out. Thus the Doormeisters were made: to discover all of the secrets of the earth and put them to work guarding the means of entrance to their Rouwa.
The first Doormeisters were mere locksmiths and camoufleurs, rendering doors concealed and difficult to open through metallurgy and landscaping, without actually making Rouwa safe from thieves. Until there came Loudmouth the Tinkerer, who was the first to discover----or at least the first to share that he had discovered----a way to activate the power of Divine Metals. Metals with the power to make doors invisible, doors that would only open under very specific conditions, and all manner of traps for those who seek entrance in the improper manner.
Role in the Clans
The job of the Doormeister is to be aggressive, suspicious, and constantly experimenting, so that the rest of the Clan can have lives that are peaceful, simple, and regular. Of course, no one in a Rouwa is short upon arbeit. But it falls to the Doormeister alone to handle arbeit that is neither simple nor peaceful. They maintain the harmony between work and rest, but do not get to participate in it. That is a sacrifice, a sacrifice which makes it so that few Tuari want to be a Doormeister. Sometimes Rouwa Clans go generations without a Doormeister, relying upon old doors and defenses. But old secrets can easily be forgotten or remembered by the wrong people. So when a Clan gets a Doormeister-----whether a single Clan or an alliance of Clans (a Grandclan) who share a Doormeister-----they treat him well. Though the Clanmeister has final authority, he will rarely oppose and quite often endorse a security or prudential demand from the Doormeister. Quite simply, no one in the Rouwa world wants to think about those concerns.
Granador
There are an unknown number of Granador (also pronounced "Grand Doors" or "Grandeurs") throughout the Gurdle. Granador are secret communities of Doormeisters who take certain binding oaths of loyalty and secrecy, and, above all, share "keys," methods of activating Divine Metals. The Granador are constantly in competition with one another, and occasionally have very small-scale arcane wars, but also are united in certain things, such as "locking" any Divine Metals sold beyond the Rouwa, so that they retain their monopoly on magical power. All Granador have different signs, creeds, and symbols.
The Granador's politics played a significant role in the 45120 ATD War of the False Famine, as the Doormeisters of the Nihoh Rouwa Grandclans were forbidden by the Granador centered among the Hoh Rouwa to unleash the Divine Metals to aid the cause of war, or else the Hoh Rouwa Granador would join the Heimfolk and fight against their brothers, out of fear that the Heimfolk would learn of the Divine Metals, and harness their power to raise up Tuameisters over the far reaches of Mihil.
The Granador have also played a role in originating "Blessed Tools" of supernatural quality to aid certain Rouwa; though the secrecy of their actions makes it uncertain whether they are the source of all Blessed Tools, or whether some are of a more mystical source.

I suppose they helped others develop in the sense of technology as well. A great article, good work my friend!

The Graiffe
