Human Leak
Macus cannot be the first. He was just the first to come through with any form of apparent intent.
When the portals between realms were closed, after the ancient foliad escorted the human forces out of Levis, the connection between humanity and the land of the twin suns remained wedged in their very DNA. While other species were dragged through the gaps between realms, humans were by far the largest victims, though a few dozen every hundred years means that those that came through were a rare enough thing that they could hide in the anonymity of their obscurity.
Brief legends on travellers between the realms are often heard in back-rooms of taverns and on the lips of the more eccentric bard, but like aliens in the reader's modern day, humanity is seen as something crackpot and insane - to the point that the Cult of the Endless Eye was seen as more a doomsday cult than anything real until Macus came through.
While the appearances were rare at the beginning of the Quiet Years, the appearances are coming with increased frequency as time travels to modern day. While legends focus more on humans, rarer still is species and creatures that are nonhuman from other realms.Plot points/Scenes
No matter the age chosen, there are several points to the adventure:
- Discover at least one human in the age you are in
- Research the history of the event
- Confrontation with the Cult
- Research into the hows and whys.
Themes
Cues involved in the plot are: emphasis on the wild and the strange. There should be large usage of Glimmers and Celestial Winds, and frequent mentions of the well of possibility. This is a 'the world is bigger than you know' style plot and focus should always be on that, using the nature of Levis. Mentions of the areas outside where the characters have travelled also helps with this illumination.
Components
Hooks
- 'The device' was used to bring Macus through, though it seems merely a communication device.
- There seems to be a connection between the leak and the portals, perhaps those need investigating
- The Saburra Desert Archive might contain older stories of the leak, or the Cult of the Endless Eye
Moral Quandaries
Discovering a way to make the leak a solid stream might invite humanity into Levis and bring the destruction it has wrought on Tyr and beyond. Stopping the leak might cause damage to the well though, as the cause is currently unknown.
