Silver Lichen
Silver Lichen is a common variety of pale, silvery-gray lichen found throughout much of Kermoria, growing upon exposed stone, tree bark, old timber, and countless other surfaces where lichens ordinarily thrive. It is neither particularly rare nor difficult to cultivate under the proper conditions, though distinguishing useful Silver Lichen from several visually similar and considerably less useful varieties requires at least a modest degree of herbal knowledge. In other words: if you have found lichen, there is a reasonably good chance that somewhere nearby, congratulations, you have found more lichen.
Medicinally, Silver Lichen is valued primarily for its mild antitoxic properties. When properly prepared, it can help the body break down or resist a broad variety of common venoms and toxins, reducing pain, swelling, nausea, and other symptoms while the poison naturally runs its course. It is not a true antidote to particularly powerful or specialized poisons—a dose of Silver Lichen will do precious little for someone filled with purple worm venom—but against the bites and stings of more mundane creatures, it can mean the difference between several hours of screaming agony and a merely miserable afternoon. When refined through alchemical processes, Silver Lichen also serves as a reliable primary ingredient in basic healing potions, making it a common staple of apothecaries and alchemical laboratories throughout much of the world.

“A wyvern sting burns like absolute hell. Silver Lichen, I am pleased to report, reduces it to merely regular hell.”
