Sernosivend
Goddess of night and the stars. Travellers and explorers -- especially those who journey upon the seas -- philosophers, astrologers, and some druids form the core of her worshipers. Originally a goddess of the elves, she now can show followers among many ancestries. The more nomadic of the halfling folk are often followers of Sernosivend.
She is called the daughter of the moon goddess Sehanine; exactly who her father might be is unknown. Some traditions hold that her father is Riyahmun, the great sun god; others hold that she is the child of Sehanine and another elven god whose worship and even identity are long lost; a third tradition suggests that she was originally one of the Rhai Cyntaf, the First Ones of the Fey Realm, elevated to full godhood by Sehanine with the help of Bahamut and others.
She is a calm, gentle and kind-hearted goddess, rarely moved to anger and very quick to forgive even serious slights and transgressions. That is not to say that she condones such things -- she will not hesitate to use her power to teach the foolish or the malevolent the need to mend their ways. She maintains cordial relationships with most of the pantheon, and is especially friendly with Sukunabikona, Shikichihime and The Cat Lord -- when any of these deities wander the material plane, it is not unusual for Sernosivend to join them, at least for a short while.
Her home is the Astral Plane; she is such an integral part of that realm that some say that she is the Astral Plane. She can make and remake any part of the Astral Plane to fit her mood and will open, close, hide or reveal portals between the Astral Plane and the outer and elemental planes at will. If an individual or group with malevolent intent finds themselves lost in the wilds of the Astral Plane, it is quite possible that Sernosivend has seen to it that they have ample time to reconsider their life choices.
Sernosivend has few large temples; smaller shrines dedicated to her often take the form of high tower or mountaintop observatories where her followers catalog the stars, trace their movements, and record other astronomical and astrological events.
Sernosivend's sacred animal is the nightingale. It is said that if a nightingale is heard singing for three nights in a row where it has not been heard to sing before, the goddess will appear on the fourth night. Her symbol is the North Star.
