The Ridge & Valley Geothermal Nomads
The Yi'oritane were the vertical nomads of the high geothermal ridges where warmth rose from the stones and the steam vents glowed softly with the first violet flash of dawn. They adapted to the constantly shifting temperatures of their geothermal region by moving up and down through glowing interconnected sanctuaries that were carved right into the volcanic rock.
Geographic Location
The Yi'oritane roamed the volcanic ridges south of the Great Plain of Bo Kaabo and north of the Vekari Highlands. They traveled throughout the region of northern Dalobaji Dari and southern Aokaan Dari that sits at about 10-25 degrees southern latitudes.
Migration Patterns
The travels of the Yi'oritane were as much vertical as they were horizontal, climbing the volcanic ridges during cool phases and descending into the valleys when the heat of Zirakon, the smaller more unpredictable star, intensified. Their migration routes tied the southern continent of Dalobaji Dari to the Great Plain of Bo Kaabo, and they would trade with the steppe cultures as they passed through during the long journey to the Festival of Titi'abule where they would arrive decked out in all their bioluminescent finery.
Landscape & Settlements
The crater lakes and geothermal vents of the Yi'oritane were home to all manner of colorful heat loving flora as well as multi-colored lizards and vent nesting birds. Their settlements were made up of reusable cliffside sanctuaries and vent lit encampments with shelters that varied seasonally between alcoves carved from volcanic rock and lean-tos near warm vent zones.
Daily Life
For the Yi'oritane, morning began with thermal calibration rituals and the day flowed on into tending to the flora and fauna living in their region and crafting vent baked ceramic tech. In the evenings, everyone would gather to prepare and share a communal meal that usually consisted of vent baked root dishes served with mineral broth and fermented drinks. The elders and tribal singers would blend their voices in songs that told stories in the soft glow of their resonance beads.
Dress
The Yi'oritane typically wore clothing embedded with geothermal tech that would adjust to the shifting temperatures of their region. They were known for their heat adaptive cloaks that were inlaid with glowing ceramic beads.
Ecotech
The volcanic rock alcove shelters of the Yi'oritane were lined with glow stone conduits that would both illuminate and adjust to shifting temperatures. They used geothermal bioreactors to harvest energy from vents, and they would often travel by ridge jump gliders. The elders carried resonance beads that would glow with changes in the temperature cycles.
Sky Cycle Interpretation
The Yi'oritane tracked the ascent and descent of the point at which the first violet flash of dawn would hit the volcanic ridges and used its position to synchronize migratory timing. They interpreted the glow of the violet flash phase as a sign that the world was awakening and ready to hear their voices echo in sacred song.
