Archivist

When you ask a young child from Sona Jin's world what they dream about doing when they grow up, many will happily exclaim, "I want to be an archivist!" Now, to those of us who are from Earth, that might sound like an odd choice for the average child to aspire to. We tend to think of an archivist as someone who primarily spends their days cataloging stray bits of boring information from dusty old manuscripts and artifacts while sitting in the back room of a museum somewhere. Of course, that might be extremely interesting and rewarding to an adult who is fascinated by such things, but why would a young child be excited about something like that? Well, the thing is that in Sona Jin's world, an archivist gets to do so much more. In fact, their job description is practically limitless. They get to travel to distant stars, explore other dimensions, and even jump through multiple timelines chasing echoes across past, present, and future like a trail of breadcrumbs leading to all sorts of mysterious adventures. What child wouldn't be intrigued by that?

Qualifications

An archivist must be deeply curious, highly creative, and boldly courageous. They must be skilled artists and storyweavers. Some knowledge of sound resonance and linguistics is helpful as well. They must possess the mental capacity to hold large volumes of information while simultaneously processing what they learn in a recursive manner thus allowing them to make connections across topics that would otherwise seem unrelated. Most of all, it is essential for them to have an unlimited imagination and a deep desire to explore the customs and cultures of other beings in a way that furthers the collective experience of all that is.

Pay & Benefits

In Sona Jin's world, they don't use currency in the way that we are familiar with on Earth, as in people receiving a monetary salary in exchange for the job that they do. Instead, individuals contribute to the collective based on their aptitudes and abilities, and in return, they are provided with the resources necessary to enjoy a comfortable life, thus freeing their energy for pursuits other than a daily struggle for survival.

Social Status

As you may imagine from the fact that so many children aspire to become archivists, this profession enjoys a certain mystique which translates into the social status given to, say.....a famous rock star on Earth?
