The Lorekeeper

Fact or Fiction?

A woven blanket holds the world together, each thread a story, a piece of lore that ties to the next and slowly works to hold everything in place. Sometimes it is possible to follow one thread throughout the whole blanket, its strength a central line that all gravitate towards, but other threads are shorter, colored in innumerable hues, each working together to keep everything tied, even across their short distances.

It is this blanket and its weave that I study, the ties that bind, the lore that keeps everything moving. Some parts of the blanket fall apart, tied back together with new threads and stronger than ever, but I am in the business of keeping records, recording even those threads that fall apart, lost to the void of time and space.

It is not a flaw to search for knowledge, but it is a flaw to say that you know everything. The world's blanket is forever being woven. We will never truly know everything there is to know, but there is also no point in not trying to. My name is the Lorekeeper, for that is what I do, but what I do is so much more than what such a simple name suggests.

— Thoughts of the Lorekeeper
The Lorekeeper is believed to be the pseudonym of an otherwise unknown person who has dedicated their life to the collection, recording, and preservation of the history and knowledge of the world. Rumors abound about this person and who they are, but the only known information is that this person has been fulfilling this role for nearly a decade and has never once shared their true identity.   All information included here, from this point forward, is information shared willingly by the Lorekeeper and includes no speculation.

Personal history

It is only fitting that my life began where it did, a place where the collection and preservation of history was second nature. All who were born where I was would have the same reverence for the history we came from and the opportunity that lay before us. Many would call us Scholars, historians, Archivists, and more, but that would never truly describe my people and the nearly divine task that was given to us.   My parents were wonderful but had their own quirks. A long childhood was shortened by traveling and the use of our innate magic to study and acquire knowledge quickly. By the time I entered my adolescence, I began to travel on my own, gaining every bit of knowledge and experience that I could while traveling as a youngling.   As the years passed, the creation of the Lorekeeper became necessary. It was an identity that protected my own heritage while also being something that transcended the boundaries of countries and kingdoms. The Lorekeeper became a way to share the knowledge I had acquired, to still learn more, but also not let the years of my life go to waste.   It is a great hope of mine that the Lorekeeper remains both truth and myth, a real person, yet a fictional one. As long as someone still believes in what the Lorekeeper stands for, then the Lorekeeper will exist, even if that title is not my true name or identity. The point is that the Lorekeeper can be all of us, or none of us; it only depends on our own decisions.

Questions of Identity

The question of the Lorekeeper's identity has become a highly debated topic in recent years, but it seems there is little agreement about the subject. Some believe that the Lorekeeper is a way for well-known Scholars to hide their identities while writing about things they enjoy that may be outside of their field, while others argue that there is no way that the Lorekeeper is a singular person or a collective of Scholars. Many believe that the Lorekeeper is probably a layman or other common folk who may be privy to such vast knowledge.
