Hecatoncheires

The Hecatoncheires (Hekatonkheires), Briareus, Cottus and Gyges, are a trio of Quasi-Deities and the Titan offspring of the Primordial Deity Gaia. The Hecatoncheires are commonly treated as a single entity, but they can and do operate independently from each other.

The Hecatoncheires, sometimes called the Hundred-Handed Ones, are a unique type of Giant of enormous size and strength, said to stand around 30 meters tall, each with fifty heads and one hundred arms. The Hecatoncheires are recorded to be terrifying combatants, capable of throwing boulders at a supernatural rate, they are also said to be able to quickly dig through earth and build with stone, supposably able to dismantle mountains in minutes, and at the same time stack a new one over an invading army. Due to their numerous heads and eyes, the Hecatoncheires are also said to be vigilant guardians, stationed by the Gods to watch over places of great importance.

The Hecatoncheires were birthed and moulded by their mother Gaia as part of her plot to usurp the Divine Pantheon and conquer the Universe in Gaia's name. But the Hecatoncheires were rejected and discarded by their mother, along with their siblings the Elder Cyclopes, thought to be too weak, not suited for the conquest Gaia envisioned. This filled the Hecatoncheires and the Cyclopes with hatred and resentment for their mother, so when the Gigantomachy waged across the Planes, Athena in her wisdom, convinced the Hecatoncheires and the Cyclopes to join the side of the Pantheon, and with their new allies the Pantheon stood victorious against the forces of Gaia.

The current location of the Hecatoncheires is unknown, with numerous records over the years each offering conflicting accounts. The most popular narrative is that the Hecatoncheires were assigned by the Gods to guard over the resting place of their mother Gaia, located within in the Elemental Plane of Earth, where the Hecatoncheires were tasked to assure that Gaia doesn't awake from her slumber. But other records claim that the Hecatoncheires were assigned to guard over the prisons of their Titan siblings, or even to protect the secret vaults of the Gods.

Appearance

The Hecatoncheires are described as colossal, bipedal Giants, standing around 30 meters tall, each with fifty heads and one hundred arms protruding out of every available space on their bodies. They are said to be hairless and muscular, with tan earthen skin and no genitals.

Records of the Hecatoncheires do not give separate descriptions for the appearances of Briareus, Cottus and Gyges, suggesting that they are almost identical in appearance.

Personality

There are next to no depictions of the Hecatoncheires, as they never appear in myths or legends, beyond being named. They are generally said to be tough and stoic, unrelenting in the warpath they are set upon, but they are also said to be amicable and protective of their allies.
