Eldarin
The Eldarin, sometimes called the Eladrin, are an ancient species of Elf native to the Land of Faerie. They are powerful Fae, infused with innate Magic, and often have a strong connection to the Land of Faerie, particularly to nature, emotion, and the seasons.
While there are many sub-species of Elf spread across the Planes, the Eldarin are the Elves that remained within the Land of Faerie, where they continued to be altered and transformed by the strange Magics of the Plane, resulting in the Eldarin being incredibly unique in comparison to other species of Elf. Eldarin more closely resemble nature spirits than other Elves, particularly that of Dryads, the likely ancestors of the Elven species.
A majority of Eldarin are not Mortal, like other Elven species, with many of them being genderless or genderfluid, able to alter their form to whatever suits them best. While some Mortal Eldarin exist, they are uncommon.
Eldarin are naturally attuned to the energies and Magic of the Land of Faerie. They are commonly bursting with emotion, and like a majority of Fae beings, Eldarin tend to be prideful, chaotic and self indulgent, heavily valuing freedom and following whims in pursuit of pleasure over all else.
Eldarin are almost exclusively found in the Land of Faerie, either as part of the Fae Courts or as Wildfae. It is incredibly uncommon to see a Eldarin outside of the Land of Faerie, especially not on Exorsia.
Seasonal Affinity
Many Eldarin take on an appearance that is often reflective of the seasons. This appearance can change in accordance with the actual season, or it can reflect an Eldarin's mood, quickly shifting their entire look and colour palette, like the leaves of a tree. The season can also influence the mood of an Eldarin, for example, Summer Eldarin tend to be high energy, and passionate. The recorded sessional and emotional combinations are listed below:
Spring. Spring Eldarin usually assume a verdant appearance, with their skin, hair and eyes taking on a light green, pink or yellow colouring. Spring also reflects high energy and the emotions of joy, love and comfort.
Summer. Summer Eldarin usually assume a fiery appearance, with their skin, hair and eyes taking on a gold, green or peach colouring. Summer also reflects high energy and the emotions of anger, anticipation and passion.
Autumn. Autumn Eldarin usually assume an autumnal appearance, with their skin, hair and eyes taking on an orange, red or brown colouring. Autumn also reflects low energy and the emotions of disgust, surprise, and contemplation.
Winter. Winter Eldarin usually assume an icy appearance, with their skin, hair and eyes taking on a blue, grey or purple colouring. Winter also reflects low energy and the emotions of sorrow, fear and bitterness.
Appearance
Eldarin stand out from other Elves, their features are more androgenous, exaggerated and alien, they often have glowing pupilless eyes, and take on a plant-like appearance, with elements of bark or leaves across their bodies. Their appearance can also be influenced or even completely changed by the season or their mood, altering it completely, from their skin and hair colour to even their gender presentation.
Eldarin hair is often coloured similar to leaves or flower petals, sometimes containing multiple hues or a gradient of colours. Their hair is often long and shiny, and depending on the season, it can be dotted with budding or blooming flowers. Unlike other Elves, patches of hair can be found across an Eldarin's body, particularly at the tips of their ears. While Eldarin hair resembles the hair of other humanoid creatures, like Nymphs, Eldarin hair is more similar to a plant-like matter or a moss.
While rare, some Eldarin more closely resemble Exorsian Elves, particularly Wood Elves, and others can take on a more insectoid-like appearance, though this is more usually for older lived Eldarin.
Maturity
Eldarin mature similarly to other Elves, with Eldarin that live outside of the Land of Faerie, or those who have found themselves disconnected from Faerie, live for around 800 to 1000 years on average.
Eldarin within the Land of Faerie cease to age once they reach maturity, and after millennia of life, they seem to lose their Mortality and Soul, losing many of their humanoid characteristics in the process, acquiring more plant-like or insectoid qualities. These Eldarin begin to suffer from Faesickness if disconnected from Faerie for an extended period of time.
