Historians Guild
Knowledge is a powerful resource.
Those who ignore it live un-fulfilling lives.
Those who embrace it live fulfilling lives.
That is the word of knowledge.
Knowler, God of Knowledge and Power
Knowler formed the Historians Guild after some elves showed interest in helping him research Astnyr. Despite being created in the region, they were unaware of what it held. Knowler agreed, grateful for the help and proud of what his people were already becoming. Curious and mindful creatures. Knowler was researching Astnyr and the other regions on his own until the citizens of Hystoria volunteered to help him. These volunteers became Scholars, and later Mentors, along with the Battle Mages protecting them.
The scholars helped Knowler with his research of Astnyr and other realms according to their own special interests. Sometimes scholars had to abandon their interesting research, including sealing Lunarius away under Knowler's discretion. This led to many scholars dying before their special interests were complete. Knowler shared the sacrificed special interests with other like-minded scholars after sealing Lunarius. Knowing that the research was going to scholars with the same special interest gave Knowler his own peace of mind, for he felt partly responsible for their deaths and incomplete research. The Scholars could be called into action again when the time ever came again. That time was when Morana invaded Magick Glades for the second time. Knowler underestimated her prowess in subterfuge inside the city. He reluctantly called on his scholars, knowing there was a repeat of history about to ensue.
The Best Scholar Who Ever Lived
There were no leaders keeping the organization together. The Historians Guild was more of a communal effort than followers of one leader. One scholar rose above the rest; however. And his name was Lunarius. Lunarius was the son of Knowler and Beight, brother of Justlight and Morana. Even without having the use of magic, his curiosity and wits made him the best scholar among his associates. He researched the region of Celmani with Winter, helped Morana research about poisons and diseases, and helped his father in his own endeavors. When they sealed Lunarius in his underwater prison, people mourned him. The Historians' Guild still held him in high regard, even after the Great War.
Scholars
Scholars were the most respected people in Astnyr. Some mentored with their special interest or to teach children about the world they lived in. Most scholars stuck with research and travel. They knew fire magic. They used it solely for convenience, like lighting a dark room or a candle. Sometimes a scholar discovered a forgotten dungeon or chasm. Lighting up those spaces certainly saved their lives, allowing them to notice traps left behind.
Mentors
Mentors taught at various academies and schools throughout Astnyr. Most of them taught children about the world, while others taught future wizards and flame archers. Those who did so had a special interest in studying battle strategies and weapons as a scholar. They used fire magic in much the same way as Scholars did. When teaching future military men, instructors used it to show the destruction of fire magic. This was to remind them, along with Wizards who became Mentors as well, to only use fire magic in battle. Never to harass or harm their fellow man. However, there were some wizards that never learned this lesson, leading them to become envy mages.
