Human

Human kingdoms and empires rise and fall with startling speed. Their cities spread across deserts, mountains, frozen tundra, ancient forests, and windswept coasts alike with nearly equal voracity. While elves speak of traditions that have endured for millennia and dwarves proudly recount the deeds of their ancestors, humans are far more concerned with what comes next than what came before.   No race in Elaris changes as quickly as humanity does. New faiths emerge, old kingdoms collapse, distant cultures mingle, and entire nations reinvent themselves within the span of only a few generations. To many longer-lived peoples this relentless pace seems reckless or even foolhardy, but it is also the source of humanity's greatest strength. Humans rarely accept that something must remain as it has always been.   Humans are found in nearly every corner of the world and among nearly every culture. They readily adopt foreign customs, learn unfamiliar languages, and form bonds with peoples that other races might consider strange or even hostile. This openness has led to countless alliances, migrations, and mixed bloodlines throughout history, making humanity one of the most widespread races in Elaris.   Individually, humans possess few universal traits beyond their versatility and determination. A desert merchant from the Kuneirmeru, a sailor from Estaklyos, a nomad of the Fahrym Unions, a knight of Cetandar, a traveling scribe of Lungao, and a devil-bound warrior of Thornlay may have little in common beyond their species. Human identity is defined far less by race than by homeland, culture, and personal ambition.   For better or worse, humanity leaves its mark wherever it settles. Nearly every age of history has been shaped by human kingdoms, human discoveries, human triumphs, and human mistakes. They are a race forever reaching toward the horizon, convinced that whatever lies beyond it belongs to tomorrow.
