Inarid

Inarid was born in the turbulant time during the fall and eventual breakup of the Kingdom of Braeland, the Chaplain's Rebellion, and the troubles that followed. Despite how isolated the mistland elves were, their distance did not protect them entirely, as the orcish tribes spread their ranks thin to cover the northern border against Chaos. Inarid was raised by the ruling family to be a bargaining chip as much as a future ruler, with the aim of marrying him to a Wintergreen and compelling the Little Warrors to grant higher priority to protecting the far east of Elanora. However, Polina 'Reason' Mikalan would stun the world when she rejected Inarid and married a young William 'Whisper' Bregan, and Lady Ruby Wintergreen showed no interest in the dashing young prince either.

Blaming the Wintergreens for much of the troubles that afflicted the Mistlands during his life, King Inarid eventually turned to alternative patrons. While he stayed clear of the blighted Rotwood Conclave during the War of the Seeds, he would prove all too ready to throw his lot in with Asmodeus, Vecna and the Empress during the Imperium War. He imprisoned his nephew Garrik when the young prince threatened to expose his madness to his people, held an orcish tribal shaman's daughter as hostage to attempt to coerce the northern tribes into obedience, and slaughtered most of Calivorn's family. Finally he would betray Calivorn to the Lich King, enabling a sneak attack to be launched on Calivorn's bastion and outpost in the area.

Calivorn and Polina would claim their vengeance late in the war. Inarid was slain by Calivorn in a carefully staged scene that diverted blame to Polina and Whisper. Only the Little Warriors and now King Garrick would be privy to the full truth of the circumstance Inarid's demise.
