The Ice Cap
This is a collective name given to the massive ice sheet that covers the entire south polar region. Unlike most of the planet, when you are deep on the ice flow, the only daylight you get is during the burning hours. So unlike most of the planet, the polar people are used to much more night than day. At the center of the Polar cap, the temperatures will soar to -50° F during the burning hours and then plummet to below-200° F. Out to the edges of the ice, the temperatures are much warmer, and the main area of habitation on the ice sheet.
