The Brokforge is a dwarven stronghold and industrial settlement built to the north of the Rimestone Steppes. Founded by the self-exiled Rakankrak dwarves, it exists both as a place of refuge and a statement of intent. Everything was built with the assumption that what was once lost would one day be reclaimed. The region known as the Brokforge is vast, spanning sprawling hills dotted with numerous settlements. The two most notable are the cities of Grunnhar and Stryrakr. Encircling all Rakankrak-controlled land is a massive wall formed as a broad ring of stone, iron, and fire. To those who live here, it is called Kiln’s Wall. Outsiders typically mistake the wall itself for the Brokforge. Kiln’s Wall is a continuous chain of furnaces, forges, and heat vents worked directly into the stone. The heat it produces creates a scorched perimeter facing outward. Approaching the Brokforge without permission or knowledge of how to enter is highly discouraged. While every forge is not active at the same time, the wall has never gone cold, a tradition sustained through both pride and spite. Laborers, craftspeople, and smiths live and work along the outer edges of the forge structures. Smaller settlements and mining communities spread into the surrounding hills. Much of the population spends more time underground than above it. Tunnels are carefully planned and reinforced, maintained with visible pride. Visitors often underestimate the number of people living in the Brokforge, simply because so many are beneath the surface. Over generations, the dwarves have added to Kiln’s Wall and the surrounding structures, giving the settlement a layered and uneven character. Some areas are marked by clan styles or individual craft, while others clearly reflect the period in which they were constructed. Older structures are sometimes dismantled and reforged into new ones as each generation leaves its mark upon the wall. Industry defines daily life. The Brokforge mines rich iron deposits and turns much of that material into weapons and construction equipment. Most trade flows through New Blarek, though the Brokforge supplies metal throughout the territory. Weapons are stockpiled in vast numbers, driven by the prevailing belief that one day they will be wielded to reclaim Bohdan.
