The Academy
The birdsong trickles through the branches on a sunny summer morning. The song of the forest surrounds you and goes through you. As you round a bend the birdsong cuts off abruptly and the sky itself seems to darken. The building that emerges matches the sky as well, the brick as dark as night. The fence surrounding the building is dead opposite, pale and thin. Thats when you notice the skeletons.
Necromancy as a practice is highly regulated, and not without good reason, the practice manipulates the soul and body, and thus can be used for violent practices such as Lichdom. Most Academies that teach necromancy are highly regulated by authorities from numerous organizations. There exists one bastion from rules and regulations, that continues to practice all necromantic and magical arts regardless of the law, this is the Academy, a secret institution in the wilderness.
Nowadays it is unofficially run by the Mor family. The existence of the academy is now hidden from authorities, and it teaches various techniques that are banned by said authorities. These include Blood Manipulation, Greater Mind Control, and soul extraction and usage, also known as Lichdom.
The Architecture of the building varies throughout time, with the oldest styles of the building being based around the "Victorian" style of the Before Magic era. Newer buildings have opted for newer styles including that of Mystian architecture, a design that avoids corners and follows the natural contours of the earth its built on.
After about a decade of this the academy began to expand, under the management of Mathew Jackson. This was partially due to the government funding drying up, and due to a demand for the education of other magical arts. It expanded to include a necromancy, mage, and illusion section.
The facilities were expanded under Dean Victoria Mor to include a morgue, in which there were many victims of the school's brutal security policy. These facilities were completed in 1072. For a period of about thirty years there was only small expansion to the building, with additions mainly including unspecialized lecture halls and dorms. The next major addition was the facilities designed for rare magics, constructed under Dean Elias Mor III with Jacks, XY and Visir being taught in these facilities.
After about a decade under Dean Elias Mor III, the burden shifted to be primarily under the rule of Dean Samuel Mor (married in) and his wife Dean Victoria Mor II. Under their rule the academy has flourished, partnering with similar organizations across the globe, creating foreign exchange programs, and creating the primary school and secondary education facilities, both centered on early magic development.

Usage
Since its founding the building has been used as an educational institution by multiple different groups, whether that be legitimate or illegitimate. In its early days it primarily taught the magical arts of guild and tinker, for which the kingdom was in sore need of. The building still possess the hallmarks of this, containing amenities such as a smithery and workshop.Nowadays it is unofficially run by the Mor family. Architecture
A newer and larger addition to the academy, modeled more after gothic architecture of the before-magic era

For the first fifty years or so, the academy was under the control of the Jackson family. During this time The Academy focused largely on educating Tinkerers and Alchemists due to the government awarding funds to those who did so. The Jackson school of magic is open for business, sure to bring more workers and trade to our region...The school would change hands for a few decades amongst members of the Jackson family. Finally the school would expand for five more years before going bankrupt due to the actions of Eda Jackson, namely several venture capitalist endeavors and several bad bets.
Period of non-use
For a period of forty years the school remained unused, being forgotten from the public eye. The school was used a few times as a brief home for various groups, but was largely deemed unusable due to decay.Mor family
The Mor family adopted the building in the 1058, and has been in control of the building for the last several decades. They started by rebuilding The Academy's necromancy facilities and enrolling new students. Then they began work on the other facilities, completing the repairs within the first twelve years whilst under the charge of founder Dean Elias Mor I. Additionally a system was devised in which power would be shared across the members of the family who desired it, as Co-Deans.The facilities were expanded under Dean Victoria Mor to include a morgue, in which there were many victims of the school's brutal security policy. Author's Notes
Out of character
I wonder if this counts as a building, its a campus, but not all the walls connect. I say it does, but who knows? This does pertain to my WIP novel in this setting, which is centered around the Mor family being super evil. Anyways hope you enjoyed!
