Sovez

Sovez is a druid grove on the Immortal Lands that is built into a half-open cavern on the side of a mountain, shielded from the worst winds, and has a dense jungle at its front. In it grows the Vezlo — also known as the Knot-Vine — a plant said to represent the bond of two lovers who are then called Svezani.

The druids that live here are willing to die for protecting these rare plants that are rare in the wilderness as they get ripped out to make room or suffer from the air quality decreasing.

The entire grove uses twisted vines — not Vezlo but similar shaped — to build their homes, weapons, and everyday items, and their hair is twisted in many faux braids. Everything here is centred on the belief that two souls that fall in love are bound by an actual element, that elsewhere in the multiverse is known as Connection and that the druids call Svez.

The Ritual known as the Binding can only be held by members of Sovez and the most devoted and sacred can hold it in Sovez itself. During this ritual, couples are joined by a literal cord made from a Vezlo Vine that is never cut — but for the sake of everyday functionality may be unravelled and stored safely — and that is then buried with the dead so the bond can “return to the elemental current.” It is customary but not imperative for bound couples to be buried together, even if that means one partner being buried alive.
