Karim
Karim is the military leader and a close confidant of Al-Qahir who lives on palace grounds with his wife and their five daughters — or was it six daughters? I could have sworn it was five but there are six around the dining table... oh well, six it must have been. Karim was also the weapons master of Nadirah/Sharara and the other children in Al-Qahir’s family. After Nadirah/Sharara fled the imprisonment of her father, Karim was sent to find and kill her. He found her and brought back a bushel of long bloodied hair as proof of her death as she had fallen off a cliff and disappeared into the waters below. And while the Malik grieved his loss publicly, Karim and his family with six daughters ate in peace, went about their day, and he kept his appearences in the government. In the same time, the rebels seem to keep getting insider information but Karim is innocent, he has been loyal to his Malik since their shared childhood after all.
Despite Nadirah/Sharara telling him to keep living his peaceful life, he decides against it, deserts, and accompanies Nadirah/Sharara on the ship of Morwan to sail to unknown lands. After all, if you ask him, he has a wife and six daughters, and there is one daughter in particular who keeps getting in trouble and who would be killed instantaneously if the wrong people saw her wandering about, he needs to keep her safe more than he worries about his wife and five other daughters in their quaint civilian lives.
