Aspakara

Aspakara is a small island underneath one of the three main bridges leading into Hvarediz. It is dull in colour, seems to be almost desaturated, and its ground is wet and a moor. More notable than its biome, however, is its surface being covered in dead horse carcasses in various states of decomposition which is slowed by the conditions in the moor. These horses are arranged in a star-like shape around a nameless small chapel, a wink to the famous but largely disappeared Star-Seers. Rumour has it that sometimes in the dead of night, the horses stand up and feed normally, but anyone who lands on the island and hasn’t left before the darkness or attempts to enter the chapel turns up dead a few miles down the river.

To anyone reading this who is familiar with German geography, this island is inspired in shape and size by the “Pferdeinsel” in Trier, although as far as I can tell there are neither dead horses nor weird cultist chapels on that island.
