Altarian
Altarian is the largest country known. It encompasses the entirety of the island that shares it's name. Before the Lich attacked Cadilon, it was a small island kingdom that was just starting to enter into political talks and negotiations with the larger nations, and as such had little contact with any of the rest of the world. Its size and isolation helped it survive The Dark Ages. Now, Altarian has recovered and is looking to expand its culture and recover what was lost.
Culture
Altarian has left The Dark Ages and now entered The Renaissance. The onus has shifted from survival to developmentPeople have free time and look to spend it on leisure activities. Literacy has increased and so has interest in sporting competitions, art, music, and literature. Mages are starting to study again and many have turned to the stories of old and wondered how much is myth and how much is fact.
It is a very religious country with most people believing the gods have been looking after Altarian, protecting it from the worst of the devastation. Iustia, God of Justice is the patron god of the monarchy, but all in all the whole country is pantheonistic. There are a number of gods who are worshiped in Altarian.
The whole country loves the king. The monarchy has done a fantastic job ensuring the peace, prosperity, and protection of the country, and as such the country is very loyal and supportive of Douglas II.
Public Agenda
King Douglas II has set his sights on exploring the world and finding the lost lore, magic, and artifacts. He also wants to search for others who survived the cataclysm in hopes of starting trade networks.

Though often considered multicultural, Altarian is mostly a human nation.

Military
The military is made up of men and women trained to use both sword and bow. The higher ranking members of the military are all paladins. Every member of the military goes through thorough training to ensure they can protect the country.
