Thornwatch
Thornwatch is the last major settlement of the Kingdom of Karth before the borders give way to Oliss and the wildlands beyond. It serves as the primary garrison for Karth’s armies tasked with keeping the spice trade routes open and secure. Alongside soldiers and caravan guards live settlers from the wildlands—those who prefer the protections of a city, even as they struggle to shed habits forged beyond the frontier.
Karth’s military presence is narrowly focused. So long as the spice caravans move unimpeded, most other matters are ignored, and the people of Thornwatch understand this unspoken rule well. Crime, feuds, and quiet brutality flourish in the margins left unattended by authority.
Perched on a cold desert plateau at the far edge of House Armand’s influence, Thornwatch is a city where prosperity is rarely gained without violence. Those who hold power do so because they seized it, and even the noble house finds its control strained in a place that sits at the very boundary of civilization.
