Goldfurrow

Goldfurrow lies nestled at the base of the Black Mountains, a settlement defined by cycles of rise and decline. Its name comes from the gold veins first discovered in the surrounding hills—rich enough to spark a rush, but shallow enough to dry up quickly. With mining equipment already in place and livelihoods at stake, the town turned to granite instead, supplying much of the Kingdom of Karth with the stone used to raise castles, bridges, walls, and civic buildings.

As demand for Goldfurrow’s granite waned and competition increased, the town faded into a shadow of its former self. Once a booming mining hub, it is now a poverty-ridden village where many residents endure out of stubbornness rather than hope. The granite mine remains active but barely profitable, and it stands as the only barrier keeping Goldfurrow from being slowly reclaimed by the mountains that surround it.
