Caer Siddi
Caer Siddi is the Headquarters of The Red Hoods, who are a religious group who worship wilderness deities.
What's the name of your building? Why?
Caer Siddi means "The Revolving/Spinning Castle" in the Scattered Lithic Language of the Red Hoods. Their major holy sites are typically communities arranged like a hillfort or medieval castle depending on the location. It is called the Spinning Fort because it follows another pattern when absorbing light, with days lasting differently and the seasons different as well. So the area feels like it's constantly spinning.
How does this building look and feel?
- It is a eroded castle on a rocky island, one of the only places which has slate.
- It feels cold and damp, it has been mostly repaired to house the Red Hoods.
- In Caer Siddi, their patron deity is Gweir, The Boy in the Grass, and the Boy With Hair of Clovers, is a pastoral deity, his statue is in their castle, a golden youth holding a harp while chained. He is offered by having drinks poured on his statue.
- They grow red and white clovers here and make a business out of transplanting grass into SATRES, which is how the Red Hoods stay legit
- Going here is known as "Going to the Gilded World", with Gilded World being their name for the Arkadia of old.
Purpose / Function
- One of the Holy Sites of the Red Hoods, and the one they claim their main one. The Red Hoods claim they are interdimensional beings, so they tend to gather around anomalies like the Briar Wall. Everything about the area is different.
- It is a living space for the Red Hoods, who are priestesses and occultists who are outcasts but due to their desperate attempts to remain virtuous (and their ability to travel between the worlds), they have gained increased support in Penumbria
Defenses
Caer Sidi's defense is most in how hard it is to get to. It is not simply off the beaten path, but it requires magic to get to (though not extensive, anyone can do it if they try hard enough).
One of the only ways to get to Caer Sidi's gates, the person must get to the 7 1/8 3/8 2/8 4/8 6/8 5/8 7/8th floor of the MBC Headquarters building. This is outlined in a document called "The Revolving Castle Game" often played by children.
After that is a long, winding path which can have varying degrees of bad weather depending on the season at the time. It takes about an hour to walk to the front of the gate if nothing goes wrong.
History
Caer Siddi used to be where the headquarters was, with the original temple being a portal to this area. However, when it was destroyed so to was an easy way of getting here.
Tourism
Tourists are permitted to visit on certain occasions, as are certain diplomats and essential workers. They often have a selector machine which can remotely control the elevator, but the elevator is always necessary.
Others think that there is a way into Caer Siddi through Afallon Fields (unconfirmed).
