Millstoneshire is a town situated in the vast rolling hills of Wheat Country. It serves as the primary trading post for the rural region.

Demographics

Architecture in Millstoneshire is quite simple, mostly made of wood and stone. The town has experienced some technological advances in the years since The War of the Wendigoes, but it remains one of the least-developed trader towns in Altairus.

Industry & Trade

As one may guess, Millstoneshire is a trading center for Wheat Country's cultivated resources, notably crops like Sun Wheat and the Vegetable Lamb. San's Lake feeds into the shire, supplying it both with water and a convenient means of export.

Flour and bread made from Wheat Country's capital crop, Sun Wheat, is also frequently exported. In fact, Millstoneshire is the only town known to have a constant supply of the much-coveted items. It is the biggest exporter of bread and flour in Altairus.

History

Millstoneshire was founded some time after Wheat Country was settled. It was founded in part to facilitate trade with the Tengu of Greyfeather Island. Warlike as they were, they were eager for a convenient source of food, since their island mostly consists of non-arable mountains. The two territories have been friendly with each other for a long time.

Points of interest

Millstoneshire is located near San's Lake, which separates it from Greyfeather Island. The island can be seen clearly from the harbor.

Tourism

Being so close to Greyfeather Island, one can find many Tengu wandering around the town at any given time of the year. Valkryies also make trips to Millstoneshire from various lands across Heraklea, but they are not as common a sight.
