Hyperdimensional Space
Hyperdimensional space, otherwise known as hyperspace, is not so much a place as it is a concept. Understanding this concept is crucial to visualizing how Altairus Portals can create bridges between worlds many light-years away.
Mathematical Concept
In essence, moving through hyperdimensional space involves moving on axes beyond the standard four (breadth, height, depth, and time).
To use an example, imagine that there are two points drawn on opposite sides of a paper, and you want to connect the two. You could do so by folding the paper over so that they touch. The points exist in 2D space (x, y), but connecting them involves working in 3D space (x, y, z).
Hyperdimensional space uses the same concept, just with more variables. By manipulating these variables, one can connect between objects which are otherwise far away from each other.

Altairus Portals are fundamentally distortions in hyperspace. By working in extraneous dimensions, they are able to create wormholes between worlds on opposite sides of the universe. In order to build the Wishing Star Express, the minds behind the project researched the concept of hyperspace in great detail. This allowed the trains not only to traverse worlds, but to control where the portals led.
It is speculated that Time-Frozen Zones are also distortions in hyperdimensional space, though this is only a hypothesis. More likely, these zones are distortions in the fourth dimension (time) caused by an abundance of Undifferentiated Anima.
