Anima Net
The Anima Net is a common tool used in alchemy. Mostly used in advanced projects, its purpose is to capture latent Anima from the surrounding world and condense it into a usable form.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The Anima Net doesn't look like a net at all. Rather, it resembles a twisted funnel with a wire mesh towards the narrow end. The funnel attaches to an electronic straining device with a small faucet-like tube on the other end.
It can be activated with a small spark of magic. When active, it will collect Anima from the surrounding environment through the wide end. The mesh strains the Anima before it flows into the mechanical box, which condenses it even more. When it is finished, it drips into a container through the tubing on the other end.
The condensed Anima takes the form of a glowing liquid, its color determined by its primary element(s). This Anima can be used for many purposes, including the creation of Alchemic Daemons.
Significance
The Anima Net is a common tool employed by serious alchemists. Before it was invented, alchemists had to extract Anima directly from other objects and beings directly. This is why creating such things as Alchemic Daemons was forbidden for so long.
With the Anima Net, there is no need to resort to such barbaric tactics. While prolonged use can lead to Anima Depletion for one's surroundings, the amount of energy the device takes from each individual object or being in the area is considerably lower, since there are multiple targets to extract from. This makes the Anima Net ideal for creating Anima-based potions and charms.
The Anima Net is composed of different kinds of metal, placed for their conductivity. The outside is plated in cold iron, which acts as an insulator to prevent Anima from leaking out while it's working. The inside consists mainly of blackmetal and copper, which conduct the energy towards its destination.
