Alchemic Daemon

While it is not possible to restore a that has died, there exists a technique that allows one to create a daemon from existing Anima. This particular technique allows for the creation of autonomous constructs within Altairus.

Effect

An alchemic daemon serves to bring inanimate objects to life, much like Nekomata magic. What separates it from other spells of the same kind, though, is that constructs with alchemic daemons have agency. They are not subject to the will of another, as with Nekomata magic. In essence, they become persons with their own free will.

"Wha- huh? Am I really talking?"
— A confused toy after coming to life

The construct will have concrete memories of the time before they were animated, though these will not always be clear. Their opinions on certain people and things, as well as their personalities, will be heavily influenced by their past experiences. A construct that was treated well in the past will be much more warm and trusting than one that was not.

Side/Secondary Effects

As with other Undifferentiated spells, the caster will experience a temporary elevation in mood during and after casting. This carries over to the animated construct as well; their first emotion will most often be joyful elation.

Manifestation

When forging the Daemon, a bright flash of white light will blind the spellcaster before the completed Daemon appears. The soul will not look any different than a natural Daemon of the same element.

When the constructed Daemon is placed into its host, it will flash within for a second before fading. Soon, the host will begin to move and talk as though they had always been alive.

Material Components

This particular spell requires a lot of Anima to forge the new Daemon. Much of this Anima is undifferentiated, though a small amount is of a certain element to determine the typing.

Numerous pieces of alchemical equipment are required for this task. One must have some kind of method of extraction for Anima, as well as living sources of all six elements. Given the amount of energy this spell requires, it is common for those sources of Anima to be drained dry and expire. This spell was forbidden for many centuries because of this.

An alternative is to use Anima from the surrounding area or from one's own body. This carries the risk of Anima Depletion, but if the surrounding environment has an abundance of Undifferentiated Anima, it is much easier and safer to create this construct.
