Aetherials
Spirits that originate from the aether. They form the basis of elemental, fey, and undead species. In the case of elementals they form the creatures and humanoids that reside on the elemental planes. These spirits that are heavily aspected of the various elements then fall to those planes and and become genies or true elementals.
New fey are also made from the spirits of aetherials that are aligned by emotional concepts rather than those that become elementals. The fey reside on the fey realm that operates like an echo of the prime material and even shares some of the landscapes but altered due to its proximity to the positive energy plane. Everything even the residents of the plane tend to be more colorfull and vibrant than those of the prime.
Lastly undead spirits are those that have memories or knowledge that didn't flow into the Astral upon death. These spirits whether complex or simplisic are often used by necromancers to animate dead bodies to do their bidding. Undead spirits originate on the shadow realm which is a depreciated echo of the prime material. This is a holding place for the deceased before the spirits either move on to the outer plane encompasing their deeds as they were living or are consumed when moving to the negative energy plane.
In some cases these spirits are virtualant enough to cross the aetherial-primal divide and appear directly on the primal material plane. When destroyed the spirit returns to the aetherial plane unless it is captured or destroyed. The divide among the planes are too great for aetherials to manifest on the outer planes linked to the astral plane.
There are mortal aetherials but they are rare and even more rarely seen on the prime material until the sundering of Necessa happened. These mortals live primarily on the elemental plane they are aligned with and when they pass their spirit goes back into the aether to join the elemental chaos to be born again. Their body and memories are shed at that time.
