Fort Herman

Fort Herman is a fortified outpost that is always on guard for monsters emerging from the Drowned Woods. It serves as a key stopover point for travelers venturing inland from the northern coastal region, providing a safe resting place before and during local expeditions.

The small community is dominated by a keep set atop a small hill that overlooks the forest it borders. A few farms cluster around it, relying on the garrison to keep them safe from marauders.

Fort Herman's most distinctive feature is the copse of trees that grows in the middle of the keep. An ancient treant named Wander Root dwells in the keep and acts as an informal ambassador between the outpost's residents and the seelie fey of the Drowned Woods.

The outpost is commanded by its castellan, Kara Shadowbreaker, who has led many successful raids into the Drowned Woods. Kara is a grim figure, always cognisant of the threat posed by the forest's denizens, and she keeps the warriors and rangers headquartered here ready to fight at a moment's notice.
