Iverran Flower Language

This article was created as an entry for a Summer Camp prompt! That means this article may be a rough draft, incomplete, or may not fully align with the world's lore. If you want to see this developed in the future, let me know!

They each handed me a bouquet of my favorite flowers surrounded by tribloom daffodils as I walked across the stage. I just couldn't hold in the tears!

In Iverra, flowers are more than just a pretty thing to put on display, they're a whole language of their own! Sure, you can just give out flowers all willy-nilly without worrying about what they mean, but you could be sending the wrong message by accident, if you're not careful.

A Culture of Flowers

Giving, receiving, and sharing flowers is a staple of the culture of Iverra, and most of Brightfield. From a young age, residents are taught what types of flowers are given between friends, family, lovers, and strangers, and what occasions suit each flower best. With the growing popularity of the Festival of Blooms, market stalls often provide guides to common flower meanings in the area and offer guides that can help you pick out the perfect gifts for whomever you're looking to impress or appreciate!
If you're giving out flowers as a stranger and you make some questionable choices, the residents will be pretty understanding, but if you mess up your meanings as a local, folks might look at you a little funny — but even then, they won't hold it against you.
