A automaton from a lost age looking for the truth to his past.
Automaton - Gunslinger
Backstory
WonderBit awoke alone and confused in the endless sands. He did not know how long he had been asleep or if sleep was even the word for it. He did not recognize the world he awoke to and could not remember who or what he was. The only clue he had to his past was the name “WonderBit Constructs” etched into a small plate on his chest.
He spent the next 43 years learning to survive while at the same time trying to find any clues to his past and to “WonderBit Constructs” these clues eventually led him to a small ancient village outside Berryton on the mainland and to an old stone house overlooking the ocean. The site of the house brought back a flood of emotions that had long been forgotten.
The home itself was in ruins and nothing much has survived but WonderBit was struck by an old memory of a man moving a large stone that covered a strange door. He spent the next month searching the surrounding area looking for that stone and eventually found it and the strange door behind it.
The door led to what looked like an old workshop / blacksmith forge filled with strange machines and crystals filled with strange magic energies. It is here that he finds some of the first clues to his old life. There is a collection of memory stones that are badly damaged but still contain some stills of a woman and child with matching red hair. The site of the child’s face causes WonderBit to collapse under the weight of the emotions it stirs. He knows in this moment that this is / was his family and that they were lost to him now.
He spends the next year going through every record and every inch of the workshop. In this time, he learns that he and another man named James Murdoch were working on some sort of project that had to do with constructs and a new way to power them. The journals and notes that survived indicate that James went mad and there was some sort of betrayal, but the details seemed to be lost to time.
During his search of the workshop he comes across a list and map of other WonderBit hidden safe rooms / workshops so he sets out to investigate them. Over the next few years and dozens of safehouses later he now knows that James Murdoch survived the changing war and was changed himself. He has made a name for himself in the shadows as a creator of violent constructs and other war machines for anyone who could pay.
Through extensive research WonderBit has tracked James down to the City of Yesterdays. He finds out that James is now working for the Slaver Demon Majesticus. Majesticus has him hidden away somewhere making war machines for him so Wonderbit has embedded himself into Majesticus’s crew in the hopes to find James and find the answers to his past.
