Darringtinium Ore

Void rocks hold nothing for you but pain and misery, at least that is what father said. He said people vanished into nothing. So that's why I avoid it.
— Ship Captian born in the Wildlands

Found in large swaths of the DryLock Plains area, it's not really known why, the two popular hypotheses is that either the Time Ripples cause the ore to manifest or that the ore has always been there and attracts the Time Ripples. More scholars lean towards the latter even though the ripples are known for bringing through random things, beings, and creatures, they still say the ore was here before the Time Ripples.   The various tribes tend to call it either Rift Rock, Void Stone, Void Rock, or really any combination of the term. Calling it something simple and not really understanding what use it could be or what harm it could be.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Looking like large chunks of terrain that have been scooped out and a void or abyss like compound poured into the hole. Even if it is flat with the ground or rock face it is set in it will appear to be missing. Tribes tend to be a little afraid of stepping on that land fearing they would be sucked into a void or hell like place.

Geology & Geography

DryLock Plains is riddled with the ore, though it is now rarely seen on the surface it does not take much digging to get to large veins within this area.   Outside of the the DryLock Plains, the WildLands has pockets of the ore with in it, not as easy to find as on the plains but still easy enough if you know what you are looking for.

Origin & Source

Time Ripples and Time Storms are what causes these viens to appear or are what draws Time Ripples to the world, it isn't sure as to what came first.

History & Usage

Discovery

Cornelius Darrington, though he never found a real use for the ore beyond just what you could do in the most mundane of terms, it was his daughter Lucretia Darrington who pushed the ore further than anyone really thought was possible.

Refinement

While not really useable in its ore state, it can be melted down and refined the same way as any other metal ore. Melting then pulling the slag off the top and over and over again till it is clean. It is long drawn out process and often takes weeks at a time to get enough from one refining forge but with enough forges going can cut down the time significantly.

Byproducts & Sideproducts

Slag: While most slag is melted again and refined more often than not it is just tossed out. Allowing bits of Darringtinium into the area around each of the Wave38 settlements.

Hazards

The ore in its raw form when handled can cause Darringtium Sickness, which currently there is no known cure for it. While not a real hazard of the ore itself, the refining factories tend to see their fair share of accidents.

Reusability & Recycling

No matter what you can always smelt it back down and re-form it.
