Spinning Shield

A new weapon in the arsenal of The Silver Legion, a spinning shield consists of a round shield approximately 2 ft in diameter. The face of the shield is covered in a series of gears, which vary in sizes and rotation direction, with plenty of gaps between them. Around the outside of the shield protrudes a ribbon of hooks, which have been sharpened to an edge, which can rotate around. Both the gears and hooks are powered by a series of Kinetic Engines stored within the body of the shield.
The spinning shield is a multi-use tool, providing both protection, utility, and offense. The facial gears and the outside hooks have been designed to catch the blade of any attacker, and use the strength of the kinetic engines within to snap it into pieces, while the outside edges of the hooks have been designed to act as a saw which can cut through leather armour with relative ease. Due to its indiscriminate and complex nature, users of these shields need to complete a years worth of training before it can be used effectively.
The shield is also equipped with a slot with a mirror where one can place a candle, allowing for one to see and use the shield at night or in dimly-lit places. The shields are typically brightly coloured and embossed with a symbol representing their regiment on them.
The mechanisms within the shield are fuelled by regulation Sparkpowder, through a small opening on its back.
Due to both the complexity and the sheer weight of the mechanisms, the spinning shield is fairly uncommon amongst the Legion. However, those who use it swear by it, and its popularity appears to be growing daily.
