Proto-Elvish

Long before the founding of Estalian, scholars believe that a large, elvish empire once spanned the west coast of Wyrring. One of the most cited clues for this is the presence of similar glyphs found across ruins along the coast. These glyphs are typically referred to as "Proto-Elvish", as they appear to share some similar glyphs with modern elvish. Several mysteries surround these glyphs, and many scholars have spent their lifetimes answering some of the following questions:

• Are these markings from a single language, or a system of letters for multiple?
• Who wrote this language? Was it truly elves as was originally proposed, or did elves simply adopt or modify this alphabet for their own use?
• What does any of it even mean?

Some scholars have pointed out that the runes are used on artefacts and in rituals relating to The Old Ways, believing that study of these magics may provide answers to the overall tongue, However, the meaning of these runes have been lost to time to the practitioners and little headway has been achieved.
