Fengarià
A sacred land protected by the will of Selûne, which is exclusively home of the Moon Elves. Centuries ago, they broke away from slavery and servitude on islands across the realm. Now, the island nation flourishes from trade with other nations selling goods which can only be found there. Access to the island is forbidden to outsiders, with traders, brokers, and the like being constrained to a small district while they conduct their business. While not outwardly hostile or aggressive toward off islanders, they are a cautious and wary people whom are slow to trust new people, especially non-elves. They have a deep hatred for all of Goblin-kind, viewing them as abhorrent fiends who do little more than enslave or kill.
Geography
The island rises from the cold, mist‑laden ocean like a crescent‑shaped jewel, its shores wrapped in silver fog and evergreen forests. Gentle maritime winds sweep across the land, carrying the scent of salt, moss, and moonlit rain. The terrain is soft and rolling rather than harsh or mountainous, shaped by centuries of steady drizzle, ocean spray, and the quiet patience of elven stewardship. The combination of location, tempered magic, and careful cultivation, these factors blend into a unique land home to wonders.
Ecosystem
A combination of several factors have influenced the ecosystem here, creating a unique atmosphere and climate island-wide. There are cool, mild temperatures which gives way to wonderful year-round farming. Frequent fog banks which constantly roll in from the sea provide a natural cover and damp atmosphere, giving way to lush flora across the island. An almost steady soft, persistent drizzle besets the island, which when paired with the fog-refracted moonlight creates dazzling ''moonbows'' and shimmering halos of light around the land. Long twilight hours turn the sky silver-blue, and even long after the sun sets, the island is never fully dark. During the day, it is often a dreamlike experience to wander the island and take in its beauty and inhabitants. The lack of proper seasons gives the inhabitants an unique environment in which to prosper. During the typical summer months, the temperature raises very little, but enough to alter the overall environment to cause slight changes. The predators of the island become less active, and more territorial. The flora blooms more vividly, with some species of mushroom only appearing during this time. During winter, the inverse happens, while also bringing with it less fish around the island as they delve deeper into the familiar cold to escape the bitter chill which besets the sea. Spring and fall months are typically the same on the island, with very little to no change except maybe an increase in rain.
Localized Phenomena
Moonbows - created by refracted light during the evening hours which resemble a rainbow but with darker hues and an uneven form. Where rainbows resemble an archway, moonbows have a more uneven edge, giving them an ethereal, wavering appearance.
Dream Mist - Pockets of fog which have coalesced with fields of Dreamgrass, creating small, rolling clouds of mist which can effect those who come into contact one as if they smoked quite a bit of the grass itself. One rarely notices the affect, unless they are finely attuned to their natural senses. Most simply become more at ease, and deem it ''natural inspiration'', while others may be affected with paranoia or an intense sleepiness.
Climate
Temperate Maritime (Moonlit Evergreen Isles)
Vibe: Misty, cool, lush, and serene — think Pacific Northwest meets elven mysticism.
This stable climate supports glowing fungi, mosses, and ancient forests, in which many normal species (and some rather unique ones) have developed one form of bioluminescene or another, be it the wonderful glowing caps of Crescent Caps or the inner light of Luminbark Trees.
Fauna & Flora
Lunârra Aurochs - 6 legged cows with double udders and short, twisty horns
Thornmane Prowlers - massive lynx-like cats with bark-textured fur and antler-like protrusions
Solcarìn Stalkers — lean, golden‑furred felines whose bodies shimmer with heat mirage; natural enemies of Selûne‑blessed beasts
Tidal Truffles
Appearance: Iridescent, pearl‑like nodules buried in sand near the tide line.
Ecology: Only form where the ocean meets moon‑blessed soil.
Uses: A delicacy among moon elves; eating one grants brief night vision enhancement.
Moon‑Gleam Eels
Appearance: Thin, serpentine eels with bioluminescent stripes.
Behavior: Hunt by creating hypnotic light patterns.
Uses: Their oil is prized for lanterns that never flicker.
Starfin Barracuda
Appearance: Sleek, silver‑blue fish with star‑shaped markings along their sides.
Behavior: Fast, aggressive, but strangely docile during moonrise.
Uses: Warriors use their teeth as charms for accuracy and speed.
Crescent Caps
Appearance: Pale blue mushrooms shaped like crescent moons, with a soft bioluminescent rim.
Ecology: Found in rings around ancient elven ruins or sacred groves.
Uses: When brewed, they create a calming tea that enhances dream clarity.
Natural Resources
Moon‑Charged Geodes
Found deep in the island’s cliffs. The crystals inside of them store ambient moonlight and release it slowly, making them a good source of energy for magical devices or lanterns.
Tidal Pearl Oysters
Found in moonlit shallows, the pearls inside shimmer with shifting colors. Their value and ability to hold magical energies makes them acceptable as currency in some places and widely valued as spell components. Additionally, Fengarian nobles often use them to decorate their regalia due to their high demand and hard-to-get nature.
Luminbark Trees
Trees with pale bark that absorbs moonlight and glows softly from within. The wood from these trees is prized for bows, magical staves, and musical instruments. The sap can be processed into a biolumiscent resin, making it prized among woodworkers and furniture makers.
Star‑Glass Sand
Found on certain beaches around Fengaria, and looks like crushed starlight in the nighttime. The sand can be used by glassblowers to make crystal-clear, magically receptive glass. Star-Glass is often used for scrying mirrors, telescopes, and various arcane lenses.
Moonstone Veins
Pale, opalescent stone that glows faintly at night, typically found in cliffsides. The magically charged nodes is often used in architecture and spell foci, with a huge popularity as enchanted streetlamps due to the natural solar energy absorbed and exuded. There are rare variants which can be found only during an eclipse, which are extremely valuable and coveted amongst Fengarian nobility.
History
Before the Cataclysm, Moon Elves were ranked as the lowest of all Elf subspecies, with many believing they were sent as spies and assassins for the often cruel and wicked Fey court. Hunted and traded as slaves because of this, it wasn't until decades after the events of the Cataclysm when a large group broke free of their captors on Drakonia. After which, they escaped on ships to other islands, where eventually a small group formed the Night Guild and began rescuing other Moon Elves from captivity on other islands. After a couple of centuries, they gathered together on a small, unihabited island and formed the nation of Fengarià. Seeing the trials and tribulations her children had endured and risen above, Selûne blessed the island with her magic, creating the perfect haven for them to thrive in.
Tourism
Only traders and brokers are typically allowed to visit the island, no mainstream tourism is allowed as none except Moon Elves are granted full access to the island.
